Installing vinyl wall lettering on walls is easy and with our tutorial, you should not have a problem getting your word art to look like a professional installed your lettering.
Prepare Your Wall
Wash your wall with a mild household cleaner, and rinse and dry the wall completely before beginning your install. Next you will need to decide where you want your expression to be placed, then with a pencil, lightly mark small guide-lines on your wall.
Make another small guide-mark indicating where you want the center of your expression.
Prepare Your Decorative Lettering
Unroll your vinyl word decor and lay it flat in a warm area until it no longer curls. Once it lays flat, place your expression on a table or other smooth surface. Rub over the entire surface of your expression with an applicator (or credit card). This will ensure that the lettering adheres to the transfer tape.
Place a yardstick or other straight edge on your expression and line it up with the bottom of your lettering. Using the yardstick as your guide, pencil a line along the bottom of your lettering. This guide-line will match up to the guide-line you have penciled on the wall.
Position and Tape Decorative Lettering
Match up the guide-line you penciled on your expression with the guide-line you penciled on the wall.
With the expression in the desired position, place small pieces of painter's tape or masking tape along the top of edge of your expression. These pieces of tape act as "hinges" and should be placed approximately every six inches.
Remove Backing Paper
Flip your lettering up and slowly peel the backing paper away from the transfer tape. Carefully lay the expression back down into position on the wall and smooth the entire surface.
Burnish Your Expression
Using an applicator or a credit card, firmly rub the entire expression, giving special attention to the edges of each letter.
Remove Transfer Tape
Slowly peel the transfer tape from the wall, and erase your guide-lines.
Once you are complete you will have a professional looking vinyl display that looks as if your word art was painted by a professional. This process is easy, but be sure not to rush your self. Take your time and have patience while hanging your lettering to ensure that the final product is straight and bubble free.
