Reflective vinyl has many industrial uses as such it is important to have a classification system to recognize a standard of types. Engineering grade reflective vinyl lettering is that which has no distinctive pattern and reflects light. Also known as type I, the engineering grade reflective film consist of small glass beads that are enclosed in the colored vinyl. As a rule of thumb you will find that engineering grade lettering has a 7 year lifetime even from brand to brand. Typically any time you look for reflective film the standard is type I engineering grade, unless you have another specific requirement type I will most likely suit your needs.
